Mountain Views

We are due back to the Rosebridge B&B on Saturday night so it was time to pull stakes and head towards Perth. Before packing up camp, we took a walk along the beach and collected a few seashells and a geocache.

While we packed up, Aiden played with Megan and Emma. We were on the road by 11 am and took in the scenery as we drove the 40 km to Porongurup National Park. The Porongurup Range is formed from granite that is more than 1 400 million years old, it is only 12 kilometres long and 670 metres at its highest point.

We stopped for lunch at a quaint cafe in the townsite of Porongurup. Aiden had fun playing on the trampoline and Sean enjoyed taking pictures of the birds. The superb fairy wrens in WA seem to be much bluer than the ones in Victoria. We thought about doing a hike but by now it was middle of the afternoon and the recommended hikes were 2 – 3 hours at best so we decided to head to Mt Barker in search of a geocache. It seemed like we zig-zaged back and forth from the Porongurup range to the Sterling Range but we were rewarded with some nice views of the mountains.

We found ourselves at Wagin near dinner time so that is where we pitched the tent for the night. Had supper in town before stopping to collect information for a multi-cache then back to the campground for our last night in the tent.
Our last morning on the road and we were up fairly early again. Sean and Aiden headed over to the playground and to track down the multi-cache from the night before. I stayed and aired out all our tenting gear and cleaned out the car. We pretty much drove straight into Perth with a couple of geocache stops and a playground along the way. We arrived into the Kalamanda area around 1:30 and stopped for a bite to eat before heading to the Bed & Breakfast place. We stayed at the lovely Rosebridge B&B again. We unloaded the car and spent some time reorganizing our stuff so it would all fit into our suitcases and not be over weight. We had a relaxing afternoon and got caught up on a few emails and downloaded our cameras. We were able to walk to a restaurant a few blocks from the B & B and have a great meal for dinner.
