Where Oceans Meet

We headed out towards Cape Leeuwin where the Indian Ocean meets the Southern Ocean, well at least on the map. There was a geocache in the area so we went for a lovely walk down to a nice sandy beach and climbed over a few rocks to find the cache.

Augusta seemed to be very quiet for a tourist town, especially in contrast to Margaret River which was hopping with activity. Stopped briefly in at the Augusta IGA to pick up lunch items for a picnic later on in a small campground on the Blackwood river. Once again a geocache lured us into this beautiful spot. It was interesting to meet a fellow geocaching from South Africa who stopped while we were eating. What is the odds of two teams of geocachers from separate continents meeting on a third continent... pretty good I guess.

Geocaching next lead us to Beedelup Falls where we walked down to the falls and across a suspension bridge. The second geocache had us walking part of the Bibbulmun track. This track goes all the way from the Perth hills down to Albany and is close to 1000 km long.

Pemberton, a logging town, was our destination for the night. We were a little nervous as we know someone with the surname Pemberton and perhaps there was a connection, but just like the person once you get to know the place it grows on you and we found ourselves quite liking the town. We checked out the campground but we were not to keen on setting up camp under some large gum trees or on soggy ground. We decided to splurge and stayed at Pemberton Backpackers for the night. We were quite pleased with the large cottage that our $79 got us. We were able to dry out our damp camping gear, charge all our electronics and get a good night sleep on comfy beds.
