Monkeying around the Beach

We treated ourselves to breakfast out this morning. We picked up some egg and bacon sandwiches and took them to a nearby playground and had breakfast there. Aiden played for a while, Sean searched out a geocache and I relaxed and enjoyed a hot cuppa.

We drove down along Ocean Beach road and checked out the beach along the way. Our weather still has not been very warm, mainly in the high teens but today it was sunny so the beach seemed like a good idea. Even with the sun, the water was very chilly. While Sean stayed on the beach, Aiden and I braved the water and went in but only up to our knees.
A short way up Mt Hallowell is a rock formation called Monkey Rock. We treked up to it and were rewarded with a spectacular views of the Southern ocean and a geocache.

We stopped for a late lunch at a small family-ran road side cafe. After having hiked and with his tummy full, Aiden fell asleep on our way to the Toffee Factory. We only stopped briefly there then headed to another maze. This one was again by donation and it was set up with paths through the forest. Aiden was very pleased with himself as he lead us almost directly to the centre.

On our way through to Albany, we stopped in Denmark to replenish our staples and spotted a Chinese restaurant so had an early dinner there before continuing on. We arrived into Albany around 7 pm and set up camp in a lovely spot close to a beach. Within minutes of arriving, Aiden had befriended a girl, Megan and her sister Emma. We find ourselves not alone in having a hard time understanding accents now and then. Megan and Emma and their parents had a bit of trouble with our accents. After saying Aiden's name a number of times and correcting them as well, Aiden became 'Ian' during the time spent with them.
