Journey to the centre of the earth..., okay peninsula.

We camped the night in Dunsborough. In the morning we headed up to Castle Rock in search of a geocache and were rewarded with a nice walk among the wildflowers, great views and an excellent cache.

The site was formerly a whaling station and the cache was located at the look out post; which looked over the area we had traveled while whale watching the day before. From there we stopped to tour the last manned lighthouse in Western Australia at Cape Naturaliste, which is now automated like the rest of the lighthouses. We were able to climb to the top where the wind was strong enough to peel back your eyelids, but it was worth it for the views of the cape and Geographe Bay coastline.

We found a scenic spot along the rocks and beach for a picnic lunch. After a quick geocache, we were off to Ngilgi Cave. The cave was incredible. It is known as one of Western Australia's most spectacular caves. The cave was discovered in 1899 and opened to the public in 1900. The cave is so named because of its association with an Aboriginal legend which describes the battle between a good spirit Ngilgi' and an evil spirit' Wolgine. Aiden loved the Kid's tunnel and had to go through it a number of times. The cool and blustery day was not an issue in the warm cave environment which is a constant 20°.

We took a beautiful drive through the Karri forest to the thriving tourist hub of Margaret River for Chinese food and a place to rest our heads.
